How to Measure for a Custom-Stitched Pakistani Suit

For custom stitching, take body measurements over light clothing, keep the tape level and do not pull it tight. Ask another person to help where possible. NOOSHAM will confirm the exact measurements required for your chosen design before tailoring is accepted.

This guide explains common measurements; it is not a substitute for the measurement list confirmed by our team. Custom stitching price and turnaround are agreed separately before ordering.

Before you start

Use a soft dressmaker’s tape.
Wear the undergarments and light clothing you expect beneath the outfit.
Stand naturally with your feet together.
Measure twice and record in either centimetres or inches—never mix units.
Do not copy a standard dress size without checking actual measurements.
Tell us whether each measurement is a body measurement or a preferred finished-garment measurement.

Common upper-body measurements

Shoulder: measure across the back from one shoulder point to the other.
Bust: pass the tape around the fullest part of the bust and keep it level across the back.
Underbust: measure directly below the bust where requested.
Waist: measure the natural waist without holding your breath.
Hip: measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat.
Armhole: loop the tape around the shoulder and underarm comfortably.
Sleeve length: measure from the shoulder point to the preferred cuff position.
Upper arm: measure around the fullest part of the upper arm.
Wrist: measure around the wrist where the sleeve will finish.

Length and neckline measurements

Shirt length is usually measured from the high shoulder point down to the desired hem. Front and back neck depth should be recorded separately. If you have a preferred neckline shape, describe it clearly and share a reference only after NOOSHAM confirms that the embroidery layout allows the requested finish.

Common trouser measurements

Waist: measure where you want the trouser waistband to sit.
Hip: measure around the fullest area.
Outseam: measure from the waistband position to the desired hem.
Inseam: measure from the crotch to the desired hem.
Thigh: measure around the fullest part of the upper thigh.
Bottom opening: state the preferred finished width where requested.

Fit preference and ease

Body measurements and finished-garment measurements are not the same. A garment normally needs additional room—called ease—for movement and comfort. Tell the team whether you prefer a closer, regular or relaxed fit. The appropriate ease depends on the fabric, lining, silhouette and design.

Design details to confirm

Along with measurements, confirm the desired shirt and sleeve length, neckline, trouser style, lining preference and any event deadline. Some requests may not be possible because borders, panels or embroidered motifs determine where the fabric can be cut.

Keep a copy of the final agreed specification. If a professional tailor took your measurements, say so and identify whether they recorded body or garment measurements.

You may include it as a reference, but custom tailoring requires actual measurements because sizing differs between brands and silhouettes.

Should I add extra inches myself?
